Welcome to Ellie McHale Photography!

I am currently a student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and persuing a BFA in Documentary Photography. I love to photograph are people in their natural environment, doing what they please. Patterns and the colour red seem to show up constantly. Often, I see things that remind me of dreams I have had, and capture what I see.

Currently, I am working on a few ideas. As my friends and family play a vital role in my life, I am constantly photographing events, moments, and their personalities. I also have a fascination with water, and how humans use it and work around & with it. I hope to create a series of naturally occuring water sources, man made sources, and the preservation vs. waste of such a vital substance. Street performers depend on entertaining the public, and I love spending hours watching shows. In time, I will create a book detailing the lives of different street performers across the globe, from Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Ibiza, Rome, and Sydney. This will be my most ambitious endeavour and require plenty of patience, time, travel, and fundage. It will be a wonderful experience, as I will get to see and learn about the world, as well as meet new people.

I shoot in documentary/photojournalism style, and perfer not to shoot posed shots. There is a beauty in capturing the moment: you see emotions a forced shot won't show. I am available for event photography, such as parties, concerts [in smaller venues], and wedding receptions. Also, my current work is available for sale, and prices are available upon request.
